What’s your process for quoting a deck or renovation job?

We’ll visit your home, walk through your vision, and provide a free, no-obligation quote that outlines the full scope of work. We aim to offer solutions that fit your budget while maintaining a high standard.

How long does a typical deck build take?

• Re-decking only: About one week.

• Full builds (framing, decking, railings): 2-3 weeks, depending on size and complexity.

Do you handle permits and inspections?

Yes, we take care of all the necessary permits and coordinate inspections as needed.

What materials do you recommend for decking in Chilliwack’s weather?

We recommend PVC or composite decking like TimberTech and Trex. Chilliwack’s wet climate is tough on bare wood, and these materials hold up beautifully year-round.

What’s your approach to working in occupied homes during a renovation?

We love when homeowners are part of the process, and we know how rewarding it is for you to see the transformation. We aim to keep the site clean and the disruption minimal.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, we’re fully licensed and insured, and we carry active WCB coverage.

Do you subcontract or use an in-house crew?

We handle the majority of work ourselves and subcontract only when needed, typically for licensed trades like electrical or plumbing.

What areas around Chilliwack do you serve?

We work throughout the Fraser Valley - from Hope to Surrey, including Chilliwack, Sardis, Promontory and Yarrow.

Do you have a minimum project size?

There’s no strict minimum, but we do have a base fee for site visits. If a project makes sense for both you and us, we’re happy to take it on.

How far in advance should I book a project?

We’re usually booking 3-4 weeks out, depending on the season. Contact us for a free quote!

I’ve been working in this trade for over 12 years, and running J. Bosch Contracting as my own company for the past 6 years.

What makes J. Bosch Contracting different from other contractors?

We care about how the work is done, not just the end result. That means extra backing, clean framing, and using materials we trust. We aim to build things right the first time so we don’t have to come back to fix them.

What should clients know before starting a renovation or deck project?

Every project has unknowns, whether it’s a hidden pipe or structural issue. We include a contingency budget to account for those surprises and keep things on track.

Do you have any favourite or standout projects?

Definitely. I love the creativity of custom deck accents, but I also really enjoy kitchen transformations. One of my favourites was Carl and Carole’s kitchen. The butcher-block island turned out great, and the whole space came together beautifully. See our kitchen renovations.
